About

Science camp operated by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, offering week-long programs in molecular biology, genetics, and bioinformatics, running since 1988. Organized into a grade-based sequence of courses, campers work in real laboratory settings — extracting and sequencing DNA, running PCR and gel electrophoresis, analyzing forensic evidence, and writing Python code to interpret biological sequence data. Advanced programs cover synthetic biology, genome sequencing, and computational bioinformatics, while entry-level courses introduce genetics through DNA extraction, microscopy, and cell modeling. STARS, a tuition-free two-week research experience, pairs intensive lab work with researcher mentorship and college-prep support. On-demand recorded versions of select courses are available year-round and ship physical lab-supply kits to students.
